Screening of the film "Bulgarian Rhapsody" at the Montreal film festival
On January 29, as part of the film festival in Montreal dedicated to the history of the Jewish people, the film by director Ivan Nichev, "Bulgarian Rhapsody", was shown.
The film, also known by the title "The Road to the Costa del Maresme", is the third chapter of Ivan Nichev's cinematic saga about the tribulations of Bulgarian Jews before and during the Second World War ( "After the end of the world" (1998) and "Journey to Jerusalem" (2003) are the previous two). The event attracted the attention of the Canadian public, and in particular the Jewish community to a topic little known to them - the role of Bulgaria in saving the Bulgarian Jews during the Second World War.
Greetings were presented by Israeli vice consul Avi Lev-Louis, whose parents are from Bulgaria, the director of the Jewish library in Montreal, the organizer of the festival. The event was attended by the Honorary Consul of Bulgaria in Montreal - Mr. George Panicherski.
