The “Truths and Illusions” exhibition – contemporary Turkish video art, was opened Friday, November 7 by the Ambassador of the Turkish Republic, His Excellency Mehmed Tourgoul Gyudzhuk and the chair of the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA), Prof. Ivaylo Mirchev. The exhibition is open for public display until November 23 on 6 “Shipka” Str.

The exhibition was organized by the UBA, the Museum Association of Sculpture and Painting and the “Process-Space” Festival. The State Institute of Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs is among the organizations having supported the realization of the exhibition.

The works on display are by nineteen artists working in the field of video art and unconventional art forms in Turkey. Curators of the exhibition are Ms. Gyunoul Nyuolou and Mr. Dimitur Grozdanov.

Modern Turkish art and video art in particular is social, focusing on the universal dimensions of the notion of “social”. We may say it is video art of dialogue, more particularly of internal dialogue, which is recognizable in all works, whether they are rather documentary videos focusing on everyday life or more abstract ones outlining the contours of our inner world. It is interesting to note the participation of Bulgarian-born Ergin Chavoushoglou, who received his secondary education schooling at the National School of Fine Arts, Sofia.

The „Truths and Illusions” exhibition employs specific artistic means allowing us to discover our own truth and re-embrace our illusions of the world, said the Bulgarian curator of the exhibition, Mr. Dimitur Grozdanov.

Participants in the exhibition include Aishe Liu, Bashak Kaptan, Elif Yoner, Ergin Chavoushoglou, Ferhay Yozgyur, Gyunesh Tiurkol, Hatidzhe Karadag, Kezban Archa Batubeki, etc.
