The photographic exhibition "Bulgaria from a Bird's Eye View" was opened at BINUS University and Bakri University in the Republic of Indonesia. The events were organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Jakarta in implementation of a project under the Plan-Program of Activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bulgarian Diplomatic and Consular Missions Abroad in the Field of Public, Cultural and Digital Diplomacy and Strategic Communications for 2024.

The exhibition, which is part of the "Traveling Exhibitions" program of the State Institute for Culture, presents 22 aerial photographs by the famous Bulgarian photographer Alexander Ivanov, taken over 17 years and over 500 flight hours with hang glider. It reveals the impressive landscapes and cultural landmarks of Bulgaria.

The event at the School of Arts and Design at BINUS took place on November 25, 2024. It began with welcoming remarks by Ambassador Tanya Dimitrova, who emphasized her commitment to strengthening cultural ties between Bulgaria and Indonesia through artistic and educational cooperation. She emphasized the role of the exhibition as a cultural bridge, promoting the preservation of Bulgarian heritage and natural beauty, while strengthening Bulgarian-Indonesian relations. Through a pre-recorded video address, Alexander Ivanov spoke about the significance of his photography project. The subsequent question and answer session provided an opportunity for a deeper dialogue between the participants.

Inspired by Alexander Ivanov’s stunning aerial photographs, the students contributed their own creative interpretations, captured from a bird’s eye view. Their works added a unique local context to the event, reflecting a shared appreciation for art and the ability of photography to offer new perspectives on landscapes and cultures.

The opening of the photography exhibition “Bulgaria from a Bird’s Eye View” at Bakri University, Jakarta took place on 6 December 2024. The event began with the playing of the national anthems of both countries and a speech by Dr. Aditya Gunawan, Head of the Faculty of Political Science. Ambassador Tanya Dimitrova delivered a lecture on “Bulgaria – Indonesia: Celebrating 68 Years of Diplomatic Relations”, followed by a question and answer session. Over 130 students and faculty members, including the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, Professor Dr. Dudi Radianto, viewed the impressive photographs from the exhibition.

Both events highlighted the ongoing academic cooperation between universities in Bulgaria and Indonesia. The university leaders expressed their gratitude for the embassy’s efforts, emphasizing that such initiatives are key to promoting international understanding and cooperation.
