Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Bulgaria Mehmet Sait Uyanık, who handed over copies of his credentials. During the talks, the very high level of bilateral relations was reaffirmed and issues in the areas of trade, energy, security, migration, tourism, etc., as well as the current geopolitical developments in the region and more broadly were discussed.

The two sides agreed on the importance of the steps taken so far to strengthen the security in South-eastern Europe between NATO allies Bulgaria, Türkiye and Romania — the signing of the agreement on the establishment of a Mine Countermeasures Task Force in the Black Sea, as well as the establishment of the NATO Battle Group on Bulgarian territory, which will grow into a brigade.

Mr. Kondov thanked for the permission granted by the Turkish side to hold the elections for Members of the National Assembly and Members of the European Parliament from the Republic of Bulgaria on the territory of the Republic of Türkiye.

Mr. Uyanık assured the Bulgarian Deputy Minister that he would make every effort to further develop relations between the two countries.
